The Couples Conference gives mental health professionals the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art skills for effective couples therapy. This year on June 5th and 6th the Couples Conference will be held online, featuring an expert faculty who will cover a wide array of couples issues faced today, such as infidelity, forgiveness, transgender relational issues, mindfulness, personality disorders, passive aggression and more.
The Couples Conferences have become a leading vehicle for learning the applications of the latest research on facilitating treatment with couples. At this Conference, you will learn from leading-edge theorists and practitioners as they define, describe and discuss differing approaches that initially promote closeness and those that move toward managing difference and facilitating differentiation. for this remuneration. If a conflict of interest exists as a result of

Jeffrey K. Zeig, PhD, is the Founder and Director of the Milton H. Erickson Foundation and is president of Zeig, Tucker & Theisen, Inc., publishers in the behavioral sciences. He has edited, co-edited, authored or coauthored more than 20 books on psychotherapy that appear in twelve foreign languages. Dr. Zeig is a psychologist and marriage and family therapist in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ellyn Bader, PhD, is a founder and director of The Couples Institute in Menlo Park, California. As a clinical psychologist, workshop leader, author, and speaker, she is dedicated to helping couples create extraordinary relationships. Over the past 30 years she has trained therapists in couples therapy throughout the United States as well as Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia. She served as a Clinical Faculty in Stanford University School of Medicine for 8 years.
Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT, is a clinician, researcher, teacher, and developer of A Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT®). He has a clinical practice in Calabasas, CA, where he has specialized for the last 15 years in working with couples and individuals who wish to be in relationships. He and his wife, Tracey Boldemann-Tatkin, developed the PACT Institute for the purpose of training other psychotherapists to use this method in their clinical practice.
Martha Kauppi believes that relationships (with yourself, your family, your partner, your culture, your community) form the context for life and provide some of the richest material for both joy and struggle. Improving any of our relationships improves every aspect of life. She is skilled in relationship, family, and couple counselor, and love working with people who are addressing family relationship challenges, improving couple communication, or exploring improved intimate connection.
William J. Doherty is an educator, researcher, therapist, speaker, author, consultant, and community organizer. He is Professor and Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program in the Department of Family Social Science, College of Education and Human Development, at the University of Minnesota, where he is also an adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.
Shawn V. Giammattei, PhD is a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of California and the founder of the newly developed Gender Health Training Institute. He has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and has 19 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families around a wide variety of issues. He specializes in working with LGBTQ couples and families with a particular focus on the specific issues that arise for transgender/gender expansive (TGE) couples and TGE youth and their families.
Dr. Giammattei is certified by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health as a gender specialist and is on faculty for their Global Education Initiative. He is an affiliated researcher, adjunct professor, and recent past Coordinator of Training for the Rockway Institute: A national center for LGBT psychology research, education, and public policy, at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. He co-created the Rockway Certificate in LGBT Human Services, which includes the first semester long graduate course in transgender mental health and currently teaches graduate level courses in LGBT psychology, transgender mental health, and couples & family therapy. He is a research consultant to Kaiser Permanente, Northern California and Emory University regarding their NIH and PCORI funded studies looking at health outcomes of transgender patients. He is also past president and current council member of the Association of Family Therapists of Northern California; past vice-president and board member of the American Family Therapy Academy; and a member of Mind the Gap, an organization affiliated with the University of California, Beniof, Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic focused on the needs of transgender youth and their families.
Terry Real, LICSW, is a nationally recognized family therapist, author, and teacher. He is particularly known for his groundbreaking work on men and male psychology as well as his work on gender and couples; he has been in private practice for over twenty-five years. Terry has appeared often as the relationship expert for Good Morning America and ABC News. His work has been featured in numerous academic articles as well as media venues such as Oprah, 20/20, The Today Show, CNN, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Psychology Today and many others.
Harville Hendrix, PhD and Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD are partners in life and work. Their lives and work are integrated in their commitment to the transformation of couples and families and to the evolution of a relational culture that supports universal equality. Harville is co-creator of Imago Relationship Therapy and co-founder of Imago Relationships International. Chancellor of the Imago International Institute and emeritus board member of IRI. Dr. Hendrix has received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Mercer University, Macon, GA, the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and the Distinguished Contributors Award by the Association for Imago Relationship Therapy. His latest book, written with his wife, Helen Hunt, is Receiving Love.

I graduated from Boston University in 1995 with a Masters Degree in Social Work and a specialization in group psychotherapy. While studying at Boston University, my field placements focused on family therapy, adult mental health, substance abuse and dependency, community mental health and people diagnosed with HIV and AIDS.
My undergraduate degree was completed in 1993 through The University of Massachusetts Boston. While enrolled at U-Mass Boston, I worked full time with homeless men, women and families struggling with chronic mental illness, substance dependency, and domestic violence. I was employed at McLean Hospital for several years where I worked primarily in an adolescent residential program and several other programs including the psychotic disorders residential unit.
Caroline is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and is admitted to the State Bars of California, Texas and Wisconsin. She also holds a Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Southern California. She is the CEO of Mind Your Brain, Inc. and Co-founder of MindSightMedia, Inc.
Caroline spent 12 years in private practice at Kelley Drye & Warren in civil litigation before serving as Vice President in Litigation at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. Prior to MGM, she served as Senior Counsel at Spelling Entertainment Group, Inc. where she supervised litigation and served as the production attorney on the set of “Judge Judy” for two seasons.
Caroline also had a private business mediation practice for three years prior to joining Mind Your Brain, Inc. Her experience in law, mediation and mindfulness has led her to be an invited international speaker at conferences including Mindful Life and 1440 Multiversity.
Her pro bono work includes: Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court, mediator on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel for the Los Angeles Superior Court, and volunteer at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Domestic Violence Clinic at the Santa Monica courthouse. Caroline also serves on the boards of Sojourn (a division of the Ocean Park Community Center), Everychild Foundation and the University of California-Berkeley Parents Board.
